DENVER ─ Today, Senator Mary Hodge (D-Brighton), received the 2012 Economic Development Center of Colorado’s Legislator of the Year award.  The Economic Development Center of Colorado (EDCC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering successful, responsible economic development and represents the economic development goals of the public and private sectors.

Senator Hodge is being recognized for legislation she has sponsored to help move Colorado’s economy forward, including this session’s  Colorado Aerospace Jobs Act.  This groundbreaking bipartisan legislation will help create new business opportunities in Colorado’s already vibrant aerospace industry by making the state more attractive to new aerospace companies.

Senator Hodge offered the following comment on the award today:

“This session we were focused on creating jobs, supporting our small businesses, and working to stimulate new economic development in the state.  Organizations like the EDCC have contributed so much to attracting new investment and growing our economy, and I am honored to have been chosen to receive this award.”

As Vice-Chair of the Joint Budget Committee, Senator Hodge has been actively involved in crafting the state budget and securing funding for economic development projects in the state. Senator Hodge has also been active with the Brighton Chamber of Commerce and is a small business owner.
